End Israeli Torture

This blog was started in 2009 by three human rights organizations: Adalah - The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights Gaza, and Physicians for Human Rights - Israel.

Adalah, Al Mezan and PHR-I are partners in a three-year EU-funded project on "Combating and Preventing Torture and Ill-Treatment of Palestinian Prisoners held in Israeli Prisons and Palestinian Civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT)." This innovative partnership brings together human rights organizations from Israel and the OPT with different areas of professional expertise and constituencies. This blog serves as a portal for all aspects of the partnership, and any relevant updates in the efforts to prevent ill-treatment and secure accountability for victims of torture in Israel and the OPT. A new position paper by PHR-Israel expresses our opinion on torture in Israel and physicians involvement in its use. The paper briefly describes the background of PHR-Israel's activism on the issue, emphasizing our struggle to change the position of the medical establishment in Israel and our ongoing efforts to engage the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) in the struggle against torture.
